One Week of Utter Chaos, Total Blessing

WOW. After a week of juggling babies...I am finally getting the hang of it. Three kids under three while trying to be present for the others. But literally, I juggle babies all day. My giant two year old stands beside me to nurse, my hands are occupied with a tiny baby and his bottle (ugh!) and a grieving one year old is usually strapped to my back to keep her from crying.

More than once this week i have wished i could nurse her. She has seemed so sad....slowly, every day gets better. It is for her sake I hope they become our forever children.

More than once this week i have prayed for grace, and gotten it. More than once this week i have skipped a meal because I am too busy juggling. More than once this week I decided to stay home rather than run that errand. More than once I changed really stinky poopy diapers. More than once my husband this week my husband has done more than his share. More than once I have seen God's Hand in my business more than ever before.

I am truly blessed.

  1. Oh Friend! What a great journey and what a good gift to give these 2 babes, to say nothing of what you and Mike are giving your older children by modeling this kind of loving. May you know deep peace in the midst of this new chaos and may you trip across God-provided wisdom as you need it. I will look forward to reading more!

MY STORY- Never an option. (side note)

My best friend at the time had a great relationship with her mom. We had both got accepted to a great university and before i found out i was pregnant, we had been scheming about how to be roommates. After the big news, her mom suggested i have an abortion. "A baby will ruin your life!" she told me, "I can take you down there, we won't have to tell your mom." I know this was said with the best of intentions. But i had seen my mom pregnant with my younger brothers. I watched her belly grow and her ease into breastfeeding. My mom used talked to me about abortion and how God 'knows us from the moment of conception." She even told me that if she was ever raped, she would keep the baby. If she was so concerned about seeing the father's face in her child for the rest of her life, she said, she would give it up for adoption. It just wasn't the baby's fault. Thank you, mom. God's Heartbeat.....

As I have entered into a world recently that many are unaware of, I have become convinced that I should speak up.      Foster children are the invisible children around us.   My message to you is that more families or couples in our churches need to nominate themselves to become foster parents.   Not because they have time.   Not because they are in the perfect place in their lives.   Not because they are waiting for God to ‘tell’ them.   I think we need more people to take radical, preemptive leaps of faith, for the sake of these children.   I think we need to stop more often take notice of the need and wonder what Jesus thinks of the children in foster care. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 9:13)    and  we are instructed to pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on Earth as it is Heaven,” I sometimes wonder if we have the a...

MY STORY-Playing House Part 2

Before I move on, I think its worth mentioning a word about Craig's background...without getting too detailed. Adopted twice in his life, he had been abandoned at the hospital at birth. His first adoption from his native country was at age 2, straight out of an Orphanage. As I have matured, I think this knowledge has made it very easy for me to forgive him. Ironically, I think its one of the reasons I had a difficult time walking away from him as a teen. After having the two foster babies last year, especially the 13 month old, with all her control issues and manipulative behavior, it really brought home for me the extent of behavioral issues that can arise from atypical bonding. In order to paint the picture a little clearer, let me describe scene #2: We are newly married. I am 6 months pregnant. (I can still see the shirt i wore all the time, while sitting in the chair, and my protruding belly in my mind.) Everything in our 550 square foot apartment is brand new. The dishes, pot...
