One Week of Utter Chaos, Total Blessing

WOW. After a week of juggling babies...I am finally getting the hang of it. Three kids under three while trying to be present for the others. But literally, I juggle babies all day. My giant two year old stands beside me to nurse, my hands are occupied with a tiny baby and his bottle (ugh!) and a grieving one year old is usually strapped to my back to keep her from crying.

More than once this week i have wished i could nurse her. She has seemed so sad....slowly, every day gets better. It is for her sake I hope they become our forever children.

More than once this week i have prayed for grace, and gotten it. More than once this week i have skipped a meal because I am too busy juggling. More than once this week I decided to stay home rather than run that errand. More than once I changed really stinky poopy diapers. More than once my husband this week my husband has done more than his share. More than once I have seen God's Hand in my business more than ever before.

I am truly blessed.

  1. Oh Friend! What a great journey and what a good gift to give these 2 babes, to say nothing of what you and Mike are giving your older children by modeling this kind of loving. May you know deep peace in the midst of this new chaos and may you trip across God-provided wisdom as you need it. I will look forward to reading more!

If You Love Your Children, Discipline Them, Please!

Is it just me or are parents getting more and more "permissive"? Parents afraid of their 3 and 4 year olds and SO EXHUASTED of parenting that they have already given up. I always imagine old episodes of Maury Povich when women would go on there, crying that their 10 year old beat them up. This blog is my two cents on discipline. After a being a mom for 1 year less than TWO DECADES, I think i am qualified. My two oldest are quite the little high achievers, both get great grades and in my biased opinion, are good citizens. In a mom group I attended a while back, they were all reading a book promoting the ridiculous idea that time-outs 'withhold love' and therefore are not healthy. The place was so filled with whiny, clingy, out-of-control children it made my skin crawl. My feeling is that time-outs are best executed like Super Nanny, where the child is first warned once, then put in time out with no explanation until the time-out is completed. God's Heartbeat.....

As I have entered into a world recently that many are unaware of, I have become convinced that I should speak up.      Foster children are the invisible children around us.   My message to you is that more families or couples in our churches need to nominate themselves to become foster parents.   Not because they have time.   Not because they are in the perfect place in their lives.   Not because they are waiting for God to ‘tell’ them.   I think we need more people to take radical, preemptive leaps of faith, for the sake of these children.   I think we need to stop more often take notice of the need and wonder what Jesus thinks of the children in foster care. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 9:13)    and  we are instructed to pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on Earth as it is Heaven,” I sometimes wonder if we have the ability to usher the Kingdom into our very homes by caring for th

MY STORY- First Birth Part 3

During my first pregnancy, i devoured any information given to me about pregnancy, birth, and newborns. I LOVED Lamaze. I studied the fetal development in detail over and over, completely amazed at the changes going on inside me. I anxiously awaited that fateful day. And then it came. I had a doctor appointment that morning and was told to 'go home, pack my bag and head to the hospital'. I was immediately disappointed that i was already missing out on spontaneous labor pains or my water breaking. I was *gasp* "OVERDO!" Before reading further, please understand that I consider my first birth to be EXTREMELY oppressive. I realize that I sound very much a like a raging feminist when it comes to birth, and I will admit that I have much in common with feminists when it has to do with the rights of women during their births, motherhood, and the way allopathic medicine is practiced in our capitalistic, patriarchal society. However contradictory, (aren't we all in some w
